If your customers do not have the thick, lush lawns they have imagined, you can rack your brain trying to figure out the cause. While you ask them about their practices of watering and second guess yourself on fertilization, the problem could be much simpler. It might be time aerate.
Are there any tracks in the lawn? There are tons of weeds despite a good fertilizer with weed prevention? Are pests become a problem? Is water pooling in the lawn after heavy rains? Are there bare spots that you could not help? The soil could be compacted, and it might just take a little aeration of the lawn to thrive. If the client has a clay soil or it is a place dry, you will need to aerate more often. There is a simple and pretty unscientific way to tell when it's time to aerate. Take a stick. If the soil is difficult to penetrate with the stick, it must ventilate.
You should choose a nice, clear weather to air. If the soil is moist, you a huge mess and a lot of explaining to customers. You'll also get compacted soil much faster if it is wet. If it's too dry, you will not be able to penetrate the soil with an aerator. Pay attention to the weather. You should have good weather for so long as possible (at least a week) when you ventilate for maximum benefits.
If you do not already have an aerator for your lawn, you can rent one. I recommend renting before buying one anyway. There are different types of aerators with different characteristics, and the best way determine which you prefer is to try them. Aerators broadcasters to enable the plugs (or cores) of soil will be distributed to across the lawn. It's good to leave, but they should be raked the lawn to see better immediately. If you have a lot of feet of clay soil or live in a dry place, you want more tips on your aerator. You also want more points to play the odds. The more corn you have, the more likely at least some will penetrate stronger, drier soils. In particularly dry areas, it is a good idea of water a day or two before aeration, just to promote penetration. Then simply mowing the same pattern as you go to mow anyway, with an aerator attached.
Aerate the lawn allowing air, water and nutrients to reach grass roots. He can move the earth. Other good small agency dealing with pests and fertilize the lawn naturally will be a success. You also pass through the roots of weeds and grass will have a better health better chance to fight against weeds. You'll have fewer problems with flooding, and the lawn is more drought tolerant. Bare spots will fill much better.
Immediately after aeration is the perfect time to overseed if you try to fill the holes, filling courses Fall for a green winter lawn. According to the core aerate the lawn, you are perfectly prepared soil to thrive on the seeds. This should be made as soon as possible after aeration, and it is best to remove the plugs from the lawn if you go to seed. It is also a great time for water to enter deeply into the soil in arid, watering if ventilation is preferable. If it time of fertilization, is also a good idea to aerate first if needed.
In hot, dry climate, you may need to ventilate in summer, autumn and early spring, depending on how dry the winter was. Cooler Grass weather are better ventilated in the early fall. They are too fragile and recover more slowly so airy in summer and autumn is the ideal time to prepare for winter. If the soil is heavy with clay, you may need to aerate more often. It is a good idea to keep your stick (knife, screwdriver, etc.) handy to check if the soil is compacted.
Aeration will save your customers time and money watering during the summer, the lawn will be better able to withstand drought, and they will be delighted with their health, lawns Fuller. It is worth investing in a well ventilated.
