Birch Drum

Birch Drum

There are dozens, even hundreds, of different kinds of drums exist in the world today. A bit like a Dr. Seuss book, there are large, short, large, thin, strong, the meek, those who are light or heavy … you name it, the world of drums at his disposal. But maybe you find some type of music drum is more exciting than others. Perhaps you prefer the clean sound of the snare, or perhaps the resounding boom of Odaiko speak, or Perhaps resonance optimistic bongos suits your taste. If you find yourself drawn to the drums that sound a certain way then it may be useful to know which factors affect the construction of drum sound instruments.

Several factors combine to determine a drum's Sound: material of the shell construction, the drum (or drum skins ") equipment and the tension of said skin. The first of these factors, equipment and construction of the drum was in fact the least effect on the drum sound. However, it should certainly not be ruled out. Because the vibrations of the drum sounds in the drum shell, the shell can be used to increase the volume and to handle the type of sound produced. The larger the diameter of the shell, plus the height of the drum will be. Anyone who has played drums or bass drums marching band will attest to this. The type of wood used can have a significant impact as well. Birch, for example, generates clear sound, crisp and clean, while the maple shells have a warm healthy. So be sure to take both dimensions and materials of any drum account.

The tension of the drum skin, or skin of the drum is the second most important factor affecting the sound of a drum. This tension is created along the drum hoop, along the edge of the drum shell where it connects to the drum. The skin tension is controlled with bolts that are adjustable. When these bolts are tight, the tension of the skin is increased, thereby reducing the amplitude of the sound, while increasing its frequency. This, in turn, makes the land more higher and lower volume. Although these bolts are, as mentioned, adjustable, this is true only in a certain range on any given reel.

Finally, the drum has the greatest effect on how a drum sounds. Each type of drum fills its own musical purpose and has its own unique. To give few examples, thick skins create sounds lower and can be very high, while the smallest are sharper and have less volume. Skin coating white plastic on the connotations they choke the drum slightly, producing a lot less complicated. Skins made of animal skin have a more "traditional" sound, essential for certain artists, while those in plastic or Kevlar its more "modern" (if it is possible for a modern drum sound). And any combination of these characteristics will produce a sound different than any other combination. Needless to say, this makes for many possible sounds.

It is not surprisingly, different drum sounds have different uses in music. For example, a jazz drummer in May want drums that sound clear, clean and a bit on the side Sweet, then a drummer in rock and roll may prefer drums that sound loud and deep. Hence the jazz drummer with drums May select shells smaller maple and thin skin, while a drummer may go to those whose tanks are larger and thicker skins birch.
