Toca djembe For $ 100, is it cheaper to find a way to replace a broken head, or replace the drum unit?
I play the djembe. Recently, on the way to a concert, my djembe somehow managed to punch the thing or another at the rear of the van band went in. My question is whether it would be more effective (and less expensive, faster) to buy a new instrument or have someone to replace the head. This is a Toca Synergy Freestyle djembe (goat skin) which cost me about $ 100 and would cost approximately even to purchase another similar or identical. I have no idea if the heads are still available or where I was going to achieve this purpose. Please provide any information you may have.
You should be able to get a head replacement of any Toca dealer. They are not difficult to change this type of drum, or you should be able to do, or any other drum tech is decent. It will not an expensive task. Since the head may need to be ordered, you may want to buy a new drum – perhaps a different size? – And for the new Head, at the same time. To avoid a ball and also give you a reference if you replace the old head yourself. In addition, you may want to invest in a difficult case if you are gigging with it. I also had the head wrecked in transit to employment.
